Garuda Linux is a rolling distribution based on the Arch Linux operating system. Unlike Arch Linux, Garuda Linux comes with a graphical installer (Calamares) for easy installation, and other advanced graphical tools for managing your system. Garuda is a performance-oriented distro with many performance enhancing tweaks. Some of the many tweaks include using zram, a performance CPU governor, along with custom memory management software. Garuda Linux has striven to provide system stability by including the Timeshift backup utility.

Running overclocked 8th gen, 16 gig, NVME, all I can say is WOW! I have never run a distro as bleeding edge with regular huge updates, sometimes over 1.3 gig and never a issue! Truly impressive! Forget about the reviews that criticize it for doing exactly what it set out to do. Yes, it uses more resources than most because it intelligently goes by the reality that unused RAM is wasted RAM so less swapping. It aims for a customized desktop with effects. If that isn't your cup of tea, don't criticize it for doing what it set out to do! Stay with Mint or Ubuntu! To test it I've opened hundreds of graphics files and when I had used over 15 gig of RAM I got a notice for being short of RAM though there was NO SLOW DOWN in the system! I had no idea I was using that much RAM till I got the popup. It did exactly what it was supposed to do. The creators of this distro have succeeded on all counts of the principals they set out to achieve. Their brilliant application of TimeShift has since been copied by several other distros! In the end, this has proven to be the most fun and most reliable distro I have ever run! If I get too overzealous and cause a problem, even if the system won't boot Timeshift at grub bails me out! Every bit of software is cutting edge up to date, and thanks to Arch AUR every program I have ever come to like using other distros is there. If you take the time to look at the hardware requirements, because of the way it is designed it does like newer more robust hardware. It isn't designed for 10 year old 2 core 2 gig RAM! That is not a downside of design! It is designed to work a specific way and given hardware that meets those requirements it is bloody brilliant! It is not designed for the MX or Void or all other staid conservative users. I've run it on an old overclocked 2600K and no problems I'm using old i5 Dell and HP laptops (8 gig RAM, and SSD). For them I start with the Bare Bones version and it boots fast and is responsive!
